Available Resources

Brightpoint has a Care Team on campus to assist students in addressing their drug and alcohol use and finding appropriate treatment resources in the community, if needed. Though Brightpoint does not provide any ongoing counseling or psychological services, members of the Care Team are available to assist students in connecting to outside resources. Community Services Boards are available in each locality to support students' needs regarding Substance Abuse and Mental Health Treatment.

Employees should contact Human Resources for information on available treatment resources.

Programs and Events

The college provides information to students throughout the year on substance abuse and health and wellness through Campus Well by Student Health 101.

Substance abuse prevention information is also included in New Student Orientation packets and available in the Student Lounges.

Brightpoint provides events, activities, student clubs and student organizations that allow students, faculty and staff to engage in and enjoy alcohol- and drug-free social activities.

Program Oversight and Review

As required by U.S. Department of Education's regulations for institutions of higher education receiving federal funds or financial assistance, Brightpoint will:

  1. annually, notify each student in writing, of standards of conduct; a description of appropriate sanctions for violation of federal, state, and local law and college policy; a description of health risks associated with alcohol and other drug use; and a description of available treatment programs; and
  2. conduct a biennial review on the effectiveness of its alcohol and other drug programs and the consistency of sanction enforcement.

The Dean of Student's Office will maintain records of reports of violations of this policy by students and any disciplinary action imposed. Such records shall be compiled as part of the biennial review.
