GENERAL INFORMATION: Brightpoint Community College is a two-year, public institution of higher education and the fifth largest of the 23 community colleges in Virginia. RESPONSIBILITIES: Nine-month full-time Information Technology (IT) faculty position available to teach a full range of IT courses in face-to-face, hybrid, and/or online (synchronous and asynchronous) formats. IT courses range from introductory courses to more advanced courses in networking, cybersecurity, cloud computing, and/or programming. Full-time responsibilities include teaching the equivalent of 15 credit hours per semester. Teaching assignments may include a mixture of online, day, and evening classes. The successful applicant will actively participate in course/program development, assessment, advising students, and serving on division and college committees. IT faculty are also expected to work with local employers and government officials to ensure students obtain the skills needed to enter the IT workforce.

QUALIFICATIONS Required: Master’s degree with a minimum of 18 graduate-level credits in a computer related field with at least 2 years of IT work experience. Experience in training, conducting workshops, and/or teaching IT concepts. College level teaching experience and/or relevant work experience. Demonstrated ability to effectively use instructional technologies. Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and oral/written communication skills. Willingness to adopt and teach new and emerging technologies and commitment to meeting the needs of and providing instruction to diverse populations. Successful completion and passing of a criminal background check.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Prior teaching at a higher education institution and/or prior community college teaching experience. Established experience in curriculum development, distance-learning instruction and/or course development. Completion of several industry-related credentials related to IT and emerging technologies. Demonstrated experience in curriculum development, distance-learning instruction and/or course development.
