Part-Time Library Collections Assistant (Library Specialist I)

RESPONSIBILITIES: Brightpoint Community College is seeking a Collections Assistant to join our Libraries. The Collections Assistant works under the supervision of the Library Director and with the Collections Specialist. The Collections Assistant supports the purchase of print and digital materials and supplies for the library, supports collections maintenance, and works directly with students, faculty and staff to provide information services. The Collections Assistant’s role includes ordering of library materials, assisting with the management of existing library collections, answering questions at the in-person and virtual Information Desk, and assisting with the college archive. The Collections Assistant is based at the Chester Campus; 20-29 hours per week; schedule may include day, evening and/or Saturday hours.
QUALIFICATIONS: Required: High school diploma (or equivalent) required. Excellent attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service. Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively and efficiently in a team-oriented environment. Flexibility to adapt in a changing environment. Successful completion and passing of a criminal background check. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Library, archives, bookstore or museum experience preferred. Cataloging experience preferred. March 24 – Help Hub and Student Services Hours
Due to a staff meeting and training, on Friday, March 24, several student services offices will be closed, starting at 11:30 a.m. on the Chester Campus and 12:00 p.m. on the Midlothian Campus.
Offices and services that will be closed and unavailable, on both campuses and remotely, include: Help Hub, Financial Aid, Admissions and Records, Business Office, Cashier’s Office, student navigators and advisors, and tech support.
