GENERAL INFORMATION: Brightpoint Community College is a two-year, public institution of higher education and the fifth largest of the 23 community colleges in Virginia. RESPONSIBILITIES: Our college invites applications for a part-time Student Support Representative who will work in the college’s Help Hub/Welcome Center. The Help Hub/Welcome Center provides prospective, new, and continuing students with comprehensive student support in regards to application, enrollment, financial aid/payment, advising, major and course selection, etc. It also supports general inquiries from community members, faculty, and staff. The Student Support Representative will serve as the first point of contact for information for general information about the college and its academic/student services. Responds to walk-in, texting, and telephone inquiries from community members, students, faculty, staff, and administrators seeking assistance. Provides administrative support to the college employees housed in the Help Hub. The position is part-time, with a variable work schedule which can include working on campus and virtually. This position may require working some evening and weekend hours, especially during peak enrollment periods.

QUALIFICATIONS: Required: High School diploma or equivalent is required. Prior years of customer service experience, preferably in an educational setting. Experience performing administrative tasks. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google suite. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to work with a diverse student population. Understanding of and commitment to open-access community college philosophy and student success. Successful completion and passing of a criminal background check is required. Preferred: Associate degree preferred. Work experience serving college students. Administrative experience in a high-paced environment with minimal supervision. Experience using student information systems (SIS), customer relationship management software, and/or Navigate.
