A Midsummer Night’s Dream Comes to the Stage at The Lynn Theatre

CHESTER and MIDLOTHIAN, Va. – The curtain is about to go up on A Midsummer Night’s Dream, at The Lynn Theatre at John Tyler Community College, becoming Brightpoint. One of William Shakespeare’s most popular comedies, the story follows four young lovers as they flee into the woods and end up in a magical kingdom where a mischievous fairy casts spells and a play within a play unfolds. The production, directed by Foster Solomon, offers a twist, setting the play in the 1960s and 1970s.
The community is invited to join in the fun by attending one of the performances, which include in-person and livestream options, on:
November 5 at 7:00 p.m.
November 6 at 7:00 p.m., livestream only (no in-person audience)
November 7 at 2:00 p.m.
November 11 at 7:00 p.m.
November 12 at 7:00 p.m.
November 13 at 7:00 p.m.
All in-person performances will take place in The Lynn Theatre, located in the T Building (742 Gardiner Ct.) on the college’s Midlothian Campus.
For the safety of all, audience members must wear a mask while inside the building, and seating will be spaced to allow for social distancing, with ushers assigning seats based on each party’s size.
Tickets are free for students with a college ID and $10 for the general public. Tickets may be purchased at The Lynn Theatre box office in the T Building one hour prior to showtime or online at https://thelynntheatremidsummer.bpt.me/.

John Tyler Community College, which is becoming Brightpoint Community College, offers more than 75 majors that provide pathways to careers in high-demand fields; transfer opportunities to four-year colleges and universities; and industry credentials and licensures. The college, with campuses in Chester and Midlothian, online classes, and off-campus classrooms, served more than 12,790 students during the 2020-21 academic year. It also assisted approximately 5,700 learners, including more than 2,700 job seekers, through its workforce development division, Community College Workforce Alliance, a partnership between Tyler and Reynolds community colleges.
