On-Campus Jobs

  • The ARC provides academic support to all students enrolled at Brightpoint Community College. The ARC’s primary goal is to create an open atmosphere of learning for all students. We assist students in numerous academic disciplines through a variety of tutoring techniques by addressing student’s individual needs. We are hiring for 2 positions.

    Peer Tutor

    The ARC Peer Tutor will support student learning by providing free tutoring services to Brightpoint Community College students. Peer Tutors assist with subject-area knowledge and serve as a model student, demonstrating techniques, attitudes, and philosophies of successful learners. Pay is $11.00 per hour. Open to both work-study and non-work study students.

    Front Desk Assistant

    The ARC Front Desk Assistant will perform receptionist duties and work closely with Tutoring Center Staff to provide an inviting environment to those who enter the ARC and Virtual ARC. Pay is $11.00 per hour. Open to all students eligible for federal work-study.

  • The Business, Engineering and Technology Division is seeking a work-study student office assistant for both Chester and Midlothian campuses. Responsibilities include:

    • Filing and shredding
    • Copying
    • Answering phones
    • Greeting faculty, students, parents

    Students should have excellent customer service and time-management skills and be dependable. This position has flexible hours between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. Monday through Friday; the assistant can work mornings, evenings, or split shifts between classes. Pay is $11.00 per hour.

  • This position will support the mission of the Community College Workforce Alliance as receptionist at CCWA’s Chester Campus location.  Work schedule can be flexible around the student’s class schedule, but will need to be consistent. Work schedule Monday-Friday. Daytime hours required. Pay is $11.00/hour.  Contact Sonya Short at 804-523-5618 or sshort@ccwa.vccs.edu if interested.

  • The Division of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences is seeeking at lab assistant for the Education Lab at the Chester Campus (Moyar Hall, 201). 

    Responsibilities:

    • Organize and manage the Lab space and materials
    • Set up or clean up the lab as per instructions from early childhood and education faculty for classes as well as special events
    • Make materials available to students after/before class for required class projects
    • Assist with ordering supplies
    • Supervise students using the lab for coursework outside of class
    • Other tasks as assigned by supervisors.

    • Dependability and punctuality

    Preferred qualifications: Students enrolled in the education or early childhood programs at Brightpoint

    Pay is $11 per/hr.  Work schedule of 10 hours a week will be created by the worker and supervisors to meet the needs of students. Evening hours are expected.

  • The Brightpoint Community College Foundation, which provides financial support for Brightpoint students and the college, is looking for a student to help with office operations including – data entry into the Foundation database software, organizing donor files, and helping with office mailings.

    Must be detailed-oriented and have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs including Excel and Word. Pay is $11.00 per hour. If you’re interested, please email us your resume. Open to all students.

  • The Help Hub Support Representative is responsible for providing real-time tier one support for the more than 9,000 students enrolled at Brightpoint. Representatives will respond to requests for support either in person in the new Welcome Centers on campus and/or that come in through the Help Hub via Zoom, Google Voice text messaging, and Google Forms. Representatives will assist students with password resets, basic Canvas or LMS usage issues, support requests for using Microsoft Office 365, and general assistance with other student-facing technology such as SIS, Navigate, and the myBrightpoint portal. Help Hub Support Representatives must have excellent customer service and problem-solving skills, be comfortable working independently and in a remote environment, able to multitask, communicate effectively, and quickly ascertain a student's need and address it. Experience in customer service or a help desk setting is preferred. The internship is a minimum of 10 hours a week. Pay is $11.00 per hour. Please submit a resume to support@helphub.brightpoint.edu.   • The Library seeks motivated, organized students to work the part-time student job in the Library. We are hiring for the Spring 2023 semester at both campuses. The job pays $11/hour. Most students work between 5 and 15 hours. The maximum hours per week is 20 hrs/week. To be eligible, you must be taking Spring 2023 classes at Brightpoint. Interested?   • The Department of Engineering seeks work-study students interested in serving as monitors overseeing the use of the MakerSpace laboratory on the Midlothian Campus. The MakerSpace contains a 3D printer, common hand and power tools, sensors, motors, and programmable microcontrollers (Arduino and VEX kits); monitors will support students as they work in the MakerSpace, including leading safety tutorials and cleaning and maintaining equipment. Pay is $11.00 per hour.

  • Chester Campus
    This position is only open to work-study students.  The successful candidate will perform office support tasks, such as filing, making copies, bulk scanning, data entry, shredding, run errands, and assisting with any related office duties as assigned.

    Required skills are typing and data entry.  Storng communications skills and being detail-orriented are required.

    Midlothian Campus
    Support the Division of Mathematics, Science, Health and Human Services at the Midlothian campus by performing office tasks, such as filing, making copies, and shredding.  Contact Alysia Brantley at 804-594-1500 or abrantley@brightpoint.edu.

If so, the Office of Student Activities may be a great place for you to work. Pay is $11.00 per hour.
