Hiring Range: Salary and rank commensurate with experience and education
General Information: Adjunct faculty teaching is limited to a maximum of 8 credit hours in the summer semester, 12 credit hours in the fall semester, and 12 credit hours in the spring semester. These limits are for total number of credit hours taught in the Virginia’s Community Colleges (VCCS). Additional restrictions may apply depending upon other positions occupied within VCCS.
Responsibilities: The Division of Mathematics, Natural and Health Sciences at Brightpoint Community College augments full-time teaching faculty with qualified part-time instructors to enhance the student learning process. Provide online or traditional delivery instruction at the Chester campus of the college. Courses offered in the discipline include Introduction to Funeral Service, Funeral Service Anatomy, Theory of Embalming, Theory of Embalming Lab, Restorative Art, Restorative Art Techniques and Lab, Funeral Service Law, Microbiology for Funeral Service, Pathology for Funeral Service, and Principles of Funeral Management.
Qualifications: Required Qualifications: Graduate of an accredited funeral services program; minimum of a bachelor’s degree; funeral service license. Excellent interpersonal and communications skills. Successful completion and passing of a criminal background check is required. Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree. Prior teaching experience at the postsecondary level. Ability to use instructional technologies.
