Event Information:
Brightpoint Community College, in collaboration with Germanna Community College, Piedmont Community College, and the College Debates and Discourse Alliance, invite you to join us for an online Braver Angels intercollegiate debate on February 26, from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m.
Debate Resolution: "Immigration helps more than hurts society."
Whether you agree, disagree, are unsure, or simply have questions: we hope you will join us for what will be an open and civil discussion on a hot-button issue facing Virginia and the nation today. Additional details to come.
Register for the event: https://bit.ly/vccsdebate2025 (You'll receive your link to the Zoom debate before the event starts.)
Braver Angels debates are not competitive or performative events separating speakers and audiences. They are immersive and highly participatory, inviting everyone in the room to express themselves freely in a collective search for truth. Conducted in a light parliamentary format and chaired by trained experts, they allow students to express their views, frame persuasive arguments, listen deeply, and engage respectfully around the most challenging political and social issues dividing our nation today.
The debate is open to all Brightpoint students, faculty, and staff.
For more information or questions, please email Dr. Michael Means.
