Certificate and Degree Options at Brightpoint

We offer career training programs in high-demand fields like manufacturing and skilled trades, arts and communications, business, health care, public safety & human services, education and information technology.

Certificates and Career Studies Certificates
In as little as eight classes, you can take your career to the next level. You can also apply classes taken to earn a certificate toward earning an associate degree.

Apprenticeship Academy

Brightpoint's Apprenticeship Academy is designed to prepare you for a registered apprenticeship in in-demand trades. This one-year program focuses on the technical instruction and training needed to enter into a registered apprenticeship program. All training hours earned in the program could apply toward your registered apprenticeship requirements.

Brightpoint's Academy Coordinator will work with employers of registered apprenticeship programs to connect with students throughout the certificate program. Academy graduates will complete a Career Studies Certificate at Brightpoint.

All courses in the program meet Virginia Department of Labor and Industry standards.

Tuition may be covered by Virginia's G3 program.

Work-Based Learning Program

Brightpoint’s Work-Based Learning Program is a part-time work program that provides students with valuable employment skills and hands-on training experiences as they complete their degrees at the college. 

To facilitiate this program, Brightpoint’s Apprenticeship Coordinator will:

  • Work with employers to identify part-time positions available.
  • Work with internal and external partners to identity potential students, and to develop a work/school schedule that is beneficial to all parties.
  • Work with Deans and Department Chairs to mentor and support students throughout the program.
  • Work with Concurrent Enrollment, Dual Enrollment and Career and Education Consortium Coordinators. 

The program currently supports students enrolled in the following majors: 

 To apply, students must meet one or more of the eligibility requirements:

  • Be a high school senior who is concurrently or dual enrolled at Brightpoint. 
  • Be a freshman at Brightpoint.
  • Have completed CCWA's MT1 training course.
  • Have the parent/guardian’s permission (if under the age of 18).
  • Be in good standing academically at the college, meeting the required degree outcomes.
  • Be in good standing in attendance at the college.

If selected for the program, students will need to fill out an application with the participating employer.

Short-Term Credentials

Through our partnership with the Community College Workforce Alliance (CCWA), we offer non-credit education and specialized programs and services, including short-term workforce credentials that can train you in as little as six weeks for some of the most in-demand jobs in Virginia.
