What Is Web Accessibility?

Web accessibility ensures that websites, digital materials, and technologies are usable by people with disabilities, including those with visual, auditory, motor, or cognitive impairments. Accessible digital content helps all individuals have equal access to services and information.

Meeting Accessibility Standards

Section 508 is a federal regulation that requires all digital information and communications to be fully accessible to individuals with disabilities. This includes websites, PDFs, and other online materials.

To comply with federal regulations, Section 508 asks organizations to follow the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG). WCAG was developed by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and is considered the universal standard for accessibility.

Brightpoint endeavors to meet the most current WCAG guidelines by following best practices and standards for web accessibility.

We regularly monitor our pages using a W3C-compliant validation product, and are currently working on changes to digital content, including the information shared on our website, to improve accessibility based on WCAG 2.1 standards, Level AA.
