We want to help you succeed not just in your educational goals, but in life. We recognize that there are many other areas of your life, like family, work, and personal/mental health that you have to balance along with your classes, and we’re here to offer support.

The Dean of Students Office oversees a wide range of student support initiatives including:

  • The Affordable Connectivity Program is an FCC benefit program that helps ensure that households can afford the broadband they need for work, school, healthcare and more.

The benefit provides a discount of up to $30 per month toward internet service for eligible households and up to $75 per month for households on qualifying Tribal lands.

Eligible households can also receive a one-time discount of up to $100 to purchase a laptop, desktop computer, or tablet from participating providers if they contribute more than $10 and less than $50 toward the purchase price.

The Affordable Connectivity Program is limited to one monthly service discount and one device discount per household.

  • The college's Care Team provides support to students struggling with personal issues impacting their success at Brightpoint.

  • College Steps is a Brightpoint-hosted, fee-based program that provides specialized resources and supports for Brightpoint students with social, communication, and/or learning disabilities.

  • Brightpoint's food pantries contain food items that are free for all current students needing assistance with securing meals. Pantries can be found on both campuses.

  • Brightpoint Community College seeks to support all of our students in achieving their goals through academic and career success.  We understand that students who are pregnant or parenting may face additional challenges when juggling school and parenting responsibilities. Learn more about support for pregnant and parenting students.

  • Safe Zone creates a safe and supportive campus for all students regardless of their gender and sexual orientation.

  • Single Stop connects students to government and community resources that will help them reach financial security, such as government benefits (SNAP, TANF, WIC); educational resources; legal assistance; housing options and health insurance options. By completing the online screening, Single Stop can estimate in minutes what supplemental resources students might be eligible to receive. Single Stop staff are also available to assist students in accessing these resources.

  • The Student Emergency Fund assists Brightpoint students who are facing an unexpected short-term financial emergency.

  • At Brightpoint, we care about your mental and emotional wellbeing, in addition to your academic success. We now offer TimelyCare—a free program for students that provides 24/7 access to virtual mental and emotional support from anywhere in the U.S. Learn more.

  • The Virginia Commonwealth Emergency Assistance (VCEA) Fund is offered to help Brightpoint students cover certain emergency financial expenses.
