A Holiday Message from the President
President Fiege reflects on the past year, and reminds us of our college's vision as we look ahead to 2025.
Brightpoint community,
As we move through the holiday season, I find myself reflecting on my first year as president of Brightpoint Community College. On January 2, 2024, I proudly became this college’s president after serving 12 years as the vice president of learning and student success. The transition to my new role has been an amazing journey, one that each and every day inspires me and leaves me grateful to be working at such a wonderful institution with so many outstanding people.
Brightpoint’s vision is, “A success story for every student,” and we mean just that. We welcome everyone and want to help all who come here to achieve their goals – whether they need a class to earn a promotion, want to gain the skills that allow them to start a new career, or are interested in getting on the path to a bachelor’s degree. We believe in a culture of care, where our students and our employees are not numbers – they are people, each with a unique story and journey. We understand the importance of providing high-quality education and workforce training, so our students can get ahead and build the lives they dream of and so our area employers have the skilled workforce they need to thrive.
The work we do is important. It changes lives. It supports the counties, cities, and business and industries we serve. We do not do this in isolation, however. We do it with you, because of you, and thanks to you. Our community is truly a bright point!
We know the holidays are often a happy season, but they can be stressful, even difficult for some. So, as we prepare to welcome a new year, may we all find hope in the possibilities of what is ahead. Be safe, be well. Happy holidays to you all!
Bill Fiege, President
December 9: Update for Evening Classes
Due to conditions improving on Brightpoint’s campuses, the college is updating its operations for December 9. Brightpoint will continue to operate remotely until 5:00 p.m. At 5:00 p.m., the campuses will reopen for evening classes (those that start at 5:30 p.m. or after). Driving conditions may vary across the area. Individuals should exercise their own judgement when determining if it’s prudent to come to campus. Students must notify their instructors if they are unable to travel to campus due to conditions in their area. Important notes about exams and evening classes.
