John Tyler Community College to Host Free Career Discovery Sessions

CHESTER and MIDLOTHIAN, Va. – John Tyler Community College invites the community to participate in its upcoming Career Discovery series. These sessions, being held online November 10 – 19, 2020, will allow attendees to explore their career interests; meet and talk to faculty who teach Tyler’s in-demand programs; and learn about the college and its partnerships with area employers and four-year colleges and universities. In addition to career-field-specific sessions, there will also be sessions for those interested in transferring after Tyler to pursue a bachelor’s degree and a session for those who are considering returning to school for a career change.
Session topics include:
- General Studies and Transfer – November 10 at 5:30 p.m. and November 11 at 3:00 p.m.
- Information Technology – November 11 at 5:30 p.m.
- Psychology – November 12 at 5:30 p.m.
- Returning to School – November 13 at 5:30 p.m.
- Criminal Justice – November 16 at 5:30 p.m.
- Business – November 17 at 5:30 p.m.
- Nursing and EMS – November 18 at 5:30 pm
- Skilled Trades – November 19 at 5:30 p.m.
Career Discovery Sessions are open to all, and there is no charge to attend. Those interested in more than one topic are welcome to attend as many sessions as they like.

John Tyler Community College offers more than 75 majors that provide pathways to careers in high-demand fields; transfer opportunities to four-year colleges and universities; and industry credentials and licensures. The college, with campuses in Chester and Midlothian, online classes, and off-campus classrooms, served more than 13,600 students during the 2019-20 academic year. It also assisted more than 9,000 learners through its workforce development division, Community College Workforce Alliance, a partnership between Tyler and Reynolds community colleges.
