Career Paths
Jobs in this field include emergency medical technician (EMT).
Prehospital positions would include EMT, Advanced EMT, or Paramedic. While EMS personnel are often thought of as responding to 911 emergencies, they also support interfacility transports, particularly with the growing population of outpatient facilities and free-standing emergency departments. EMTs and paramedics are also involved with numerous niche specialties, from organ donation to working on an offshore oil rig.
After completing your EMT course, you would also be qualified for numerous positions within the hospital environment, including Patient Care Technician. Becoming an EMT will open numerous doors in the health care field.
