Human Services, Pre-Social Work Specialization, AAS
This two-year degree prepares students for jobs in human services and is intended for students who plan to pursue a bachelor’s degree in social work.
Students will understand the role of human services working with individuals, families, communities and society; put human services theory and skills into practice; recognize types of addictions; and exhibit the skills needed to serve as a mental health worker. Students will also gain field experience through an internship. This degree has options for transfer at Old Dominion University and Virginia Commonwealth University.

Winter Break: December 24, 2025 – January 2, 2026
The college will be on Winter Break, from Wednesday, December 24, 2025 through Friday, January 2, 2026. During Winter Break, the campuses will be closed, and there will be no on-campus classes or services. Some remote services will be available. Information on these services and how to connect to them are outlined in our news section. Registration for Spring 2026 classes will continue online during Winter Break. Current students may sign up and pay for their classes through their SIS account in myBrightpoint. Our campuses will reopen on January 5, 2026.
