CHESTER and MIDLOTHIAN, Va. – Brightpoint Community College invites the community to join the college’s faculty, staff and students at 11:00 a.m. on November 11, 2024, as they honor those who have served in the armed forces. The college’s annual Veterans Day Ceremony will be held at the Chester Campus, located at 13101 Route 1, in the Nicholas Center, room N102.

This year’s ceremony will feature remarks delivered by SFC(R) Halimah Shepherd-Crawford, a U.S. Army veteran and student at Brightpoint who leads the college’s Student Veterans Organization, and Dr. Shauna Mayo, a U.S. Army veteran, coordinator of professional development at Brightpoint, and president of the Richmond Chapter of Women Veterans Interactive. In addition, a special presentation will be made by the Virginia Foundation for Community College Education. At the end of the ceremony, attendees will be invited to take part in a memorial tree planting. This year’s tree was provided through the generous support of Carl Duffey of the James River Rotary Club and the Brightpoint Community College Student Veterans Association.
