The UNITY Project
An interactive art installation to celebrate what defines us, and what unites us.
In celebration of the inauguration of our president, Dr. William Fiege, Brightpoint is installing an art project called UNITY on both campuses this October. Open to the public, the UNITY Project is designed to draw together community members from many backgrounds and life experiences, and reveal the ways in which we are all connected.
How Does It Work?
32 poles are installed in a circle in select outdoor locations (see below). Each pole is labeled with a different identifier, such as “I’m a student” or “I’m a parent.” Project participants select the poles that they identify with, and then tie a string of yarn from one pole to another. As more and more participants attach their yarn, the strings will intersect, creating a web that represents our interconnectedness.
Participate in the UNITY Project
The UNITY Project will be open throughout October at various times and dates. Stop by, contribute your string of yarn, and help us celebrate our shared humanity.
Important: Yarn will be provided to all participants. Volunteers will be available to assist at both installations. UNITY is a weather-permitting event.
