Parenting while studying for your degree can be challenging. At Brightpoint, we provide support and services to help you succeed as both a student and a parent.

Quiet Study Areas

At each Brightpoint Library, you will find special rooms where you can study with your children.

A private study room at the Chester Campus Library contains a child-sized table and chairs. The Midlothian Campus Library contains a parent-and-child study carrel, which is a desk with an attached space for a young child.

Both campus libraries include an Educational Curriculum Materials Collection. The collection includes board books, picture books, juvenile literature, and games and manipulatives for young children. These materials can be checked out and used in the library or at home.

Secure Breastfeeding and Lactation Rooms

Private breastfeeding and lactation rooms are available for all Brightpoint students, faculty, and staff. Arrive when you need them–you do not need to make an appointment to access the rooms.

Support for Single Parents

The College Attainment for Parent Students (CAPS) Program at Brightpoint offers single parents support through financial assistance, mentoring, and community-oriented activities. Students need to apply and be accepted into the program in order to receive benefits. Students with exceptional needs for childcare or who are enrolled in healthcare programs will be given priority. Space is limited.

  • Individualized coaching and mentorship

  • Educational programming about issues faced by single parents
