GENERAL INFORMATION:  Brightpoint Community College is a two-year public institution of higher education and is the third largest of Virginia’s 23 community colleges.  The college is located within the Greater Richmond metropolitan area. It serves students and the community at its two campuses, in Chester and Midlothian; online; and in locations throughout its service area. RESPONSIBILITIES:  Brightpoint Community College invites applications from highly motivated individuals to apply for the Great Expectations Coach position. The Great Expectations program serves foster youth who plan on attending, or are currently attending Brightpoint Community College. The program and coach’s objectives are to provide students access to comprehensive advising, retention services, financial resources, and individually focused support with navigating their college journey. The Great Expectations Coach is responsible for the overall management of the program. This position supports students at both campuses and may need to work evening or weekend shifts as needed.   

The Great Expectations coach works closely with internal and external resources for recruiting purposes as well as management of student barriers.  The Great Expectations coach is responsible for planning, coordinating and/or participating in school and statewide events for Great Expectations students.

QUALIFICATIONS: Prior experience working with foster youth required. Proficiency in the use of PeopleSoft, EAB Navigate, Canvas, Microsoft Office, and Google suite preferred. Must possess the ability to provide service to a diverse population of customers. Must possess ability to maintain confidentiality while working with highly sensitive information. Candidates must be able to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings, occasional weekends and teleworking if required

Successful completion and passing of a criminal background check is required.

Additional Considerations: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent is preferred. Master’s Degree preferred. Prior experience at a college or university is preferred.

*All full-time classified employees new to the Commonwealth of Virginia will serve a 12-month probationary period.
