GENERAL INFORMATION: Brightpoint Community College is a two-year public institution of higher education and one of the largest of the 23 community colleges in Virginia. RESPONSIBILITIES: Brightpoint Community College is seeking qualified individuals to teach nurse aide credit and non-credit courses in face-to-face, hybrid, and/or online formats. Full-time faculty members fully participate in nursing program development and evaluation, college activities and committees, advising, and represent Brightpoint at community events and professional opportunities. This is a one-year grant funded position with the possibility for renewal.

Serve as Nurse Aide Education Coordinator and primary instructor for the Brightpoint Community College Nurse Aide Education Program. Develop and adjust curriculum to meet Virginia Board of Nursing requirements. Assume the administrative responsibility and accountability for the nurse aide education program by maintaining records and completing appropriate reports. Assist in the identification of clinical partners and supervise student clinicals. Assist with the physical development and organization of a VA Board approved nurse aide skills lab. Assist with the development and training of adjunct faculty. Communicate effectively with both internal and external customers. Actively listen, influence, and collaborate with others to create consensus and achieve goals. Participate in professional development and college activities that serve the mission of CCWA and the colleges.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required by the start date. Must have two years of experience in medical surgical and/or pediatric nursing, excellent oral and written communications skills, ability to teach a combination of day, evening, weekend, hybrid, and/or online classes, and flexible to work at any of the College’s locations. Successful completion and passing of a criminal background check.

Preferred qualifications: Master’s degree. Experience teaching at the college level, ability to use instructional technology, and knowledge of Virginia BON regulation and ACEN accreditation criteria.
