GENERAL INFORMATION: Brightpoint Community College is a two-year public institution of higher education and one of the largest of the 23 community colleges in Virginia. RESPONSIBILITIES: In accordance with the Commonwealth of Virginia, VCCS, Brightpoint and ARMICS policies and procedures, organizes, designs, sets up, validates and reviews for modification as required in the VCCS Student Information System (SIS) student financial implementation processes and sub-systems. Works with VCCS to modify PeopleSoft software and associated set up as required to meet College, Federal and Commonwealth requirements. Manages collection of student accounts in coordination with internal and external agencies. Manages student tuition installment payment plans, student refund process, student debt collection as well as various other student financial operations. Supervises the process verification and oversight of Campus Cashier Offices and deposits other business procedures and reports.
QUALIFICATIONS: Required: Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and practices. Ability to utilize technology to support the delivery of student related financial services. Ability to interpret policies, analyze and solve problems. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing and to train supporting staff. Demonstrated experience in a high-volume customer service environment required. Working experience with internal and external business customers. Ability to analyze software to recommend system enhancements and to project future operational needs. Successful completion and passing of a criminal background check will be required. High School diploma required.
Preferred: Preferred: Graduation from a college or university with major study in accounting or equivalent knowledge/training strongly preferred. Master’s degree preferred. Working knowledge of all phases of automated accounting systems. Experience with community college financial services practices preferred. College student financial information system experience preferred.
