RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supports Brightpoint’s mission statement of providing quality educational opportunities that inspire student success and community vitality through communicating and maintaining a positive, productive, and cooperative attitude, providing excellent customer service to all, and the embodiment of the Facilities Department core values.

Performs work associated with college facilities in order to provide and maintain a safe, comfortable and attractive campus environment that is conducive to teaching and learning. Responsible for operation, maintenance, and repair of facilities and associated building systems, preventative maintenance, equipment inspection and repair. Assists with general building repairs, classroom and office setups, and campus deliveries. Maintains inventory of parts, materials, and supplies. Actively participates in safety training and inspections. Uses computer maintenance management system. Serves as essential personnel.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Demonstrated strong commitment to customer service. Education, technical training, and/or experience in general facility maintenance, building system and equipment repair, and workplace safety requirements. HVAC Journeyman and Universal CFC certification or ability to obtain within 12 months. Knowledge and professional experience utilizing personal computers, computer software, BAS, and computer maintenance management systems. Knowledge of principles, materials, and methods of facility maintenance to include the installation, repair, and maintenance of building HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems and equipment. Ability to provide preventative maintenance services, diagnose, and repair all building systems and related equipment. Ability to use a variety of power, hand, and diagnostic tools. Knowledge of current trends and developments in the field of facility maintenance. Ability to read and interpret operating manuals. Knowledge of OSHA workplace safety standards. Ability to supervise and inspect the work of others and to establish priorities. Excellent customer service skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, officials, outside vendors and department heads. Ability to keep accurate records and prepare reports. Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions for extended periods of time. Ability to report to work as “essential” personnel within one hour of being called into work after hours and on holidays. High school diploma or equivalent, valid driver’s license and background check are required.

Preferred: HVAC Journeyman level card.

*All full-time classified employees new to the Commonwealth of Virginia will serve a 12-month probationary period.
