NEXT STEP VCU

Transfer from Brightpoint to VCU

The NEXT STEP VCU dual admission program is designed to make the transfer process as easy as possible.

NEXT STEP students get a VCU advisor, ID card, and email address; invitations to special events; and access to the VCU library and select campus resources. NEXT STEP students will be connected with other prospective and current VCU students to help them transition successfully into the VCU community. Upon successful completion of the associate degree, the regular transfer application and fee will be waived for NEXT STEP students.

Eligibility Requirements

The NEXT STEP VCU program is available to students who meet the following requirements:

• Hold a high school diploma or GED.
• Earn a minimum 2.00 cumulative grade point average on the first 12 credits attempted at your community college.
• Plan to enroll in a VCU degree with an approved NEXT STEP transfer map.
• Have completed no more than 30 college credits.

Submit the Declaration Form to join the program. 

The form is available April through August for those who plan to join in the fall, and November through January for joining in the spring.
