Advising
We're Here to Help
At Brightpoint, we're here for you every step of the way. Here are your advising team members:
New Student Navigator
When you apply to Brightpoint, you’ll be assigned a New Student Navigator within 1-2 days of application. After your New Student Navigator is assigned to you, you’ll hear from them within 2-3 business days via text and email about setting up a time to meet.
Your New Student Navigator can help you:
- Apply to Brightpoint
- Declare a major
- Register for your first semester of classes
- Be ready for your first day of class
You’ll work with your New Student Navigator through the first week of classes during your first semester. Then, you’ll transition to working with either a Faculty Advisor or Professional Advisor.
High School Navigator
If you are a current high school student in Chesterfield, Amelia, Charles City, Dinwiddie, Prince George, Surry or Sussex Counties, or in the cities of Colonial Heights, Hopewell or Petersburg, you’ll be assigned a High School Navigator who works in your high school. Your Navigator will reach out to you within one week during the school year or 48 hours during the summer to set up time to meet.
Your High School Navigator can help you:
- Explore your career options
- Apply to Brightpoint
- Declare a major
- Register for your first semester of classes
- Be ready for your first day of class
You’ll work with your High School Navigator through the first week of classes during your first semester. Then, you’ll transition to working with either a Faculty Advisor or a Professional Advisor.
Faculty Advisor
When you declare a major, you will be assigned a Faculty Advisor who has expertise in your chosen major. Tap into this expert assistance.
Your Faculty Advisor can help you:
- Choose classes and plan your schedule each semester
- Map out a path to graduation
- Explore career and transfer opportunities
- Connect with additional resources and opportunities at Brightpoint and beyond

You will work with your Faculty Advisor as long as you stay in your chosen major. Starting your first semester, your Faculty Advisor will periodically reach out to you via email and text.
Reach out to your Faculty Advisor any time you have questions or need help, and be sure to meet with your Faculty Advisor each semester to plan for the upcoming semester. Find your advisor’s contact information in EAB Navigate or the Student Information System in myBrightpoint.
Want to make an appointment with your Faculty Advisor? It’s easy to see availability and set a time using EAB Navigate.
