Brightpoint to be part of the first cohort of the Google AI for Education Accelerator
Brightpoint Community College is among three institutions of higher education in Virginia that will be part of the first cohort of the Google AI for Education Accelerator. That announcement was made August 27, 2025, during an event held at the college’s Chester Campus. At the event, Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin and Ruth Porat, President and Chief Investment Officer of Alphabet and Google, unveiled Google’s plans to invest $9 billion in Virginia through 2026. Those funds will be focused on cloud and artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure, including a new data center in Chesterfield County and the expansion of existing facilities in northern Virginia as well as expanding education and workforce development programs for Virginians.
Being part of the Google AI for Education Accelerator will give Brightpoint students, faculty and staff no cost access to Google Career Certificates and artificial intelligence (AI) training courses. Brightpoint’s acceptance as a member of the Accelerator highlights the college’s commitment to helping its students gain the skills needed to be successful in today’s careers as well as in the careers of the future.
Planning for the Accelerator at Brightpoint is underway, and more information about the rollout of this program will be shared as it becomes available.
