On-Campus Jobs

  • The ARC provides academic support to all students enrolled at Brightpoint Community College. The ARC’s primary goal is to create an open atmosphere of learning for all students. We assist students in numerous academic disciplines through a variety of tutoring techniques by addressing student’s individual needs. We are hiring for 2 positions.

    Peer Tutor

    The ARC Peer Tutor will support student learning by providing free tutoring services to Brightpoint Community College students. Peer Tutors assist with subject-area knowledge and serve as a model student, demonstrating techniques, attitudes, and philosophies of successful learners. Pay is $12.00 per hour. Open to both work-study and non-work study students.

    Front Desk Assistant

    The ARC Front Desk Assistant will perform receptionist duties and work closely with Tutoring Center Staff to provide an inviting environment to those who enter the ARC and Virtual ARC. Pay is $12.00 per hour. Open to all students eligible for federal work-study.

    Professional Tutor

    The professional tutors will work on the Chester and/or the Midlothian campuses to assist student tutors and students in a wide variety of subjects. Professional tutors will work one-on-one with students or in a small group setting. Professional tutors will act as a resource for student tutors and work with staff to develop training materials, and online resources related both to subject matter and tutoring practices. The pay for this position is $18 per hour. We encourage you to check our employment opportunities regularly for future openings.

  • The Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences Division is seeking two work-study students: one for the Chester Campus and one for the Midlothian Campus.

    The successful candidate will perform office support tasks, such as:

    • Filing
    • Making copies
    • Bulk scanning
    • Data entry
    • Shredding
    • Running errands
    • Assisting with any office-related duties as assigned

    Required skills:

    • Typing
    • Data entry
    • Strong computer skills with an emphasis on the various Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, and Microsoft Office 365 apps, such as: SWAY and/or Power Pages
    • Strong communication
    • The ability to be skillfully detail-oriented

  • Show your Brightpoint pride as a Student Ambassador, giving tours to prospective students and helping out with recruiting events. Read the full responsibilities and apply. Pay is $12.41 per hour. 

  • The Business, Engineering and Technology Division is seeking two Lab Assistants, one for the Chester Campus and one for the Midlothian Campus.

    Chester Campus Trades Lab Assistant

    The successful candidate should possess the skills to perform the following tasks:

    • Set up and prepare lab spaces for daily instruction, including tools, machines, and materials.
    • Maintain lab equipment by inspecting, cleaning, and performing minor repairs as needed.
    • Monitor student safety and ensure compliance with all safety protocols and PPE requirements.
    • Assist students with hands-on exercises and help demonstrate basic techniques under instructor supervision.
    • Maintain accurate inventory of tools, materials, and supplies; order and restock as necessary.
    • Assist faculty with preparing lab exercises, tests, and demonstrations.
    • Clean and organize the lab to maintain a safe and orderly work environment.
    • Report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to the supervisor promptly.
    • Support instructors with administrative tasks as needed, including recordkeeping and data entry.

    Midlothian Campus MakerSpace Lab Assistant

    • Oversee the use of the MakerSpace laboratory, which contains a 3D printer, common hand and power tools, sensors, motors, and programmable microcontrollers (Arduino and VEX kits).
    • Support students as they work in MakerSpace.
    • Lead tutorials on how to use the equipment in the space safely.
    • Maintain safe use of the Makerspace by making sure that students are wearing any required protective equipment and following the safety rules for each piece of equipment.
    • Clean and low-level maintenance of machines, tools, and materials.
    • Support the MakerSpace Coordinators in developing a repository of tutorials and projects for beginners in the space.

  • The Business, Engineering, and Technology Division is seeking two work-study students, one for the Chester Campus and one for the Midlothian Campus.

    The successful candidate should possess the skills to perform office support tasks, such as:

    • Front desk and customer service
      • Answer phones and take messages.
      • Greet students, faculty, and visitors.
      • Respond to general questions and direct people to the appropriate offices.
    • Clerical support
      • Make photocopies, scan, and file documents.
      • Sort and distribute mail.
      • Enter data into spreadsheets or databases.
    • Office and program support
      • Assist with event setup and logistics.
      • Help create posters, flyers, or social media posts.
      • Maintain bulletin boards and information racks.
    • Inventory and supply management
      • Organize and restock office supplies.
      • Check equipment and report repair needs.
    • Project assistance
      • Help with special projects as assigned.
      • Conduct simple research under supervisor guidance.
    • Professional conduct
      • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
      • Follow all campus policies and safety guidelines.
      • Arrive on time and communicate scheduling conflicts in advance.

  • Career Services Student Ambassadors work at the Chester and/or Midlothian campuses.

    These Ambassadors will:

    • Set up for career fairs; greet and register job seekers.
    • Update the job boards in academic buildings/post new fliers.
    • Organize the Career Clothing Closets and label new items.
    • Help students access the online job board and schedule career advising appointments.
    • Greet employers for tabling events.

    Job Description

    The Financial Aid Office invites students to apply for the open Federal Work Study (FWS) positions in our office. As a valued member of the Financial Aid team, the FWS student will assist Financial Aid staff members in performing clerical and administrative assistant duties while also focusing on special projects as assigned. Training will be provided upon starting the role.

    Primary Duties and Responsibilities

    1. File, scan, and organize documentation according to FERPA guidelines.
    2. Assist Financial Aid Counselors with greeting students and assigning them a Financial Aid staff member to work with on Zoom.
    3. Assist Financial Aid Counselor with Federal Work Study program documentation.
    4. Assist peers with FAFSA completion via Zoom or in-person at FAFSA completion events.
    5. Complete special projects as assigned.

  • The Brightpoint Great Expectations program is seeking a work-study student to provide support as an assistant.

    Duties include:

    • Setting up for events and workshops on and off campus.
    • Storing, shredding, and managing files.
    • Promoting the Great Expectations program by visiting high schools, attending outreach events, and distributing marketing materials (e.g., flyers, pamphlets, business cards).

    Students must be a Great Expectations student in order to apply.

    Requirements:

    • Good communication and written skills
    • Ability to be detail-oriented
    • Reliable transportation

    Hours may include day and evening shifts. Students will work primarily at the Midlothian Campus, but may also be needed at Chester.

  • The Help Hub Support Representative is responsible for providing real-time tier-one support for the more than 9,000 students enrolled at Brightpoint.

    Duties include: 

    • Responding to requests for support, either in person on campus and/or online via Zoom, Google Voice text messaging, and Google Forms.
    • Assist students with password resets, basic Canvas or LMS usage issues, support requests for using Microsoft Office 365, and general assistance with other student-facing technology such as SIS, Navigate, and the MyBrightpoint portal.

    Job requirements: 

    • Excellent customer service and problem-solving skills
    • Be comfortable working independently and in a remote environment
    • Able to multitask, communicate effectively, and quickly ascertain a student's need and address it.
    • Experience in customer service or a help desk setting is preferred.

    Support Representatives will work a minimum of 10 hours a week. Pay is $12.41 per hour. Please submit a resume and cover letter to Bryce Thompson.

    Hiring occurs throughout the year and is open to all students.

  • The Library seeks motivated, organized students for part-time work in the Library. The Library accepts applications year round, and often has multiple openings for the semester. The job pays $12.41/hour, and most students work between 5 and 15 hours. The maximum hours per week is 20 hours/week. To be eligible, you must be a current student at Brightpoint. Interested?

  • The Department of Engineering seeks work-study students interested in serving as monitors overseeing the use of the MakerSpace laboratory on the Midlothian Campus. The MakerSpace contains a 3D printer, common hand and power tools, sensors, motors, and programmable microcontrollers (Arduino and VEX kits); monitors will support students as they work in the MakerSpace, including leading safety tutorials and cleaning and maintaining equipment. Pay is $12.00 per hour.

  • The ideal candidate should be a Music, AFA major.

    The position is located at the Midlothian Campus and will involve work related to the Brightpoint Music Ensembles.

    Responsibilities include:

    • Filing, cataloging, and organizing items within the music ensemble’s libraries
    • Distributing and/or collecting music for use in weekly rehearsals as well as music performances
    • Assisting with setup, preparation, and clean-up before, during, and after various music events and performances.

    The position would also require assistance with program preparation for various music events, including the creation and compilation of printed materials, such as concert programs, flyers, etc.

    In addition, the candidate would also assist with various errands and needs related to the program, as qualified and determined by the program director.

    Required skills:

    • Strong computer skills (including typing, data entry, and knowledge of basic Microsoft Office applications).
    • Strong communication skills.
    • Ability to follow directions and careful attention to detail.
    • Availability to meet frequently with the program director.
    • Availability to attend rehearsals and performances and assist with distribution and collection of sheet music as needed.
    • Ability to handle responsibilities related to the position while balancing academic requirements and responsibilities.

  • The Performing Arts Department is seeking work-study students for the Midlothian Campus.

    The successful candidate(s) should be a Theatre, AFA or Technical Theatre Major, or have significant theatre experience.

    The candidate will support the theatre space and events and classes in the theatre with tasks such as:

    • Assisting in cleaning and maintaining shop spaces such as the scene shop, costume shop, properties storage, dressing rooms, green room and related areas.
    • Assisting with events to include setting up specialized equipment for lighting and sound needs, running the lighting/sound boards for events, assisting groups in the management of their events, loading in scenic equipment, etc.
    • Assisting with performing arts classes, including setting up the classroom space in advance of a class and returning it afterwards, setting up and/or running lights for a class, assisting with projection or related visual equipment, organizing showcase and small performance events, assisting students with finding props and costume pieces for performance activities, etc.
    • Assisting with performances, including running lights/sound/mics/wardrobe/backstage crew/box office, etc.
    • Assisting with load in for mainstage shows to include set build/paint/construction, wardrobe and dressing rooms set up, backstage areas set up, costume construction, makeup assistance, etc.
    • Assisting with other departmental tasks as determined by the department chair.

    Required skills:

    • Basic to intermediate knowledge of one or more technical areas of theatre, such as scenic, props, costume/makeup, lighting, sound, properties, stage management, etc.
    • Previous work as a theatre technician in one or more areas of technical theatre.
    • Ability to be skillfully detail-oriented.
    • Ability to work on multiple projects at once while balancing classes and other responsibilities.
    • Ability to follow directions and ask questions.
    • Strong communication skills.

  • The Administrative Offices in the Academic Support and Strategic Partnerships Division are seeking a part-time student assistant to support a variety of tasks. 

    Responsibilities

    Make gift bags for student visits, organize and take inventory, greet guests as they enter the office, make copies, use Excel to enter spreadsheet information. Help out with other administrative tasks as they arise.

    Required Skills

    • Inventory management – Tracking supplies, restocking, and maintaining accurate counts
    • Attention to detail – Ensuring all items (like gift bags or spreadsheet entries) are accurate and complete
    • Customer service – Creating a warm, welcoming environment to greet guests
    • Verbal communication – Greeting and assisting visitors confidently and professionally
    • Team collaboration – Working with others in the office to keep things running smoothly
    • Office equipment use – Operating printers, copiers, and other standard devices
    • Basic computer literacy – Navigating documents, forms, and digital communication tools

  • The Testing Center is seeking a student worker to assist the Chester Testing Center staff with checking in students for their testing appointments.

    Responsibilities:

    • Use a laptop to check in students through the RegisterBlast scheduling software
    • Hand out testing materials needed to take the exam.
    • Ensure that students have successfully checked out after completing exams and that all testing materials are returned to the testing proctor station before leaving the Testing Center.

    Requirements: 

    • Be friendly and professional
    • Have great customer service skills
    • Have good computer skills
    • Be detail-oriented
    • Be dependable 

    The work schedule can be flexible around the student’s class schedule, but will need to be consistent. Assistants will work a maximum of 20 hours per week. Pay is $12.41 per hour.
