On-Campus Jobs

  • The ARC provides academic support to all students enrolled at Brightpoint Community College. The ARC’s primary goal is to create an open atmosphere of learning for all students. We assist students in numerous academic disciplines through a variety of tutoring techniques by addressing student’s individual needs. We are hiring for 2 positions.

    Peer Tutor

    The ARC Peer Tutor will support student learning by providing free tutoring services to Brightpoint Community College students. Peer Tutors assist with subject-area knowledge and serve as a model student, demonstrating techniques, attitudes, and philosophies of successful learners. Pay is $12.00 per hour. Open to both work-study and non-work study students.

    Front Desk Assistant

    The ARC Front Desk Assistant will perform receptionist duties and work closely with Tutoring Center Staff to provide an inviting environment to those who enter the ARC and Virtual ARC. Pay is $12.00 per hour. Open to all students eligible for federal work-study.

  • Show your Brightpoint pride as a student ambassador, giving tours to prospective students and helping out with recruiting events. Positions are currently filled, but more openings are anticipated in Spring 2024. Check back here in late Fall 2023 for more information. Pay is $12.00 per hour. Open to all students.

  • The Business, Engineering and Technology Division is seeking a work-study student office assistant for both Chester and Midlothian campuses. Responsibilities include:

    • Filing and shredding
    • Copying
    • Answering phones
    • Greeting faculty, students, parents

    Students should have excellent customer service and time-management skills and be dependable. This position has flexible hours between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. Monday through Friday; the assistant can work mornings, evenings, or split shifts between classes. Pay is $12.00 per hour.

  • This position will support the mission of the Community College Workforce Alliance as receptionist at CCWA’s Chester Campus location. Work schedule can be flexible around the student’s class schedule, but will need to be consistent. Work schedule Monday-Friday. Daytime hours required. Pay is $12.00/hour.   • The Center for Teaching & Learning is seeking to hire a student worker for voiceover and video editing projects. If you have an interest in animation, voiceover work, and/or reviewing videos for closed caption content edits, this is the job for you! Flexible hours between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday on the Midlothian campus. The media specialist can work mornings, afternoons, or split shifts between classes. Pay is $12.00 per hour and the maximum hours per week is 20 hours/week. To be eligible, you must be a current student at Brightpoint. Interested? Email a letter of interest to Dr. Shauna Mayo.

    Responsibilities: Work study students needed for the Visual Arts department as associates in The Gallery at Brightpoint. Duties include monitoring and securing the room, maintaining the cleanliness of the gallery, recording visitor attendance, and reporting any issues. Training will be provided as necessary.

    Required Skills: n/a

    Pay Rate: $12 per hour

    Special Notes: Since the gallery is limited in its hours, associates may be reassigned to other Visual Art spaces as necessary. Hours may include day, evening, and Saturday shifts.

  • The Help Hub Support Representative is responsible for providing real-time tier one support for the more than 9,000 students enrolled at Brightpoint. Representatives will respond to requests for support either in person in the new Welcome Centers on campus and/or that come in through the Help Hub via Zoom, Google Voice text messaging, and Google Forms. Representatives will assist students with password resets, basic Canvas or LMS usage issues, support requests for using Microsoft Office 365, and general assistance with other student-facing technology such as SIS, Navigate, and the myBrightpoint portal. Help Hub Support Representatives must have excellent customer service and problem-solving skills, be comfortable working independently and in a remote environment, able to multitask, communicate effectively, and quickly ascertain a student's need and address it. Experience in customer service or a help desk setting is preferred. The internship is a minimum of 10 hours a week. Pay is $12.00 per hour. Please submit a resume to support@helphub.brightpoint.edu.   • Love to tell stories with your artwork? The Division of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences is seeking an Illustrator for a spring promotional campaign, as well as select work for internal clients. Get work experience doing what you love to do with flexible hours that fit around your class schedule. Work may include both whimsical and academic illustrations; however, the Illustration medium is flexible depending on the candidate’s skillset and preferences. It is preferred for the candidate to have taken Foundations of Drawing I or a similar class. Though not all work may be realistic, the successful candidate must have an understanding of proportion and perspective. Adobe experience is helpful but not required.

    This position may assist with additional Visual Arts duties as needed. Pay is $12 per hour. Please prepare a portfolio of four to eight images that showcase your artwork, including a selection of fully developed work and quick drawings.     Responsibilities: Work study students needed for the Visual Arts department as studio and graphic lab assistants. Duties include monitoring the use of equipment, maintaining the cleanliness of the space, recording room usage, and reporting any issues. Training will be provided as necessary.

    Required Skills : Adobe Creative Cloud experience preferred but not required.

    Pay Rate: $12 per hour

    Special Notes: Hours may include day, evening, and Saturday shifts.

  • The Library seeks motivated, organized students for part-time work in the Library. Library accepts applications year round, and often has multiple openings for the semester. The jobs pays $12/hour, and most students work between 5 and 15 hours. The maximum hours per week is 20 hours/week. To be eligible, you must be a current student at Brightpoint. Interested?   • The Department of Engineering seeks work-study students interested in serving as monitors overseeing the use of the MakerSpace laboratory on the Midlothian Campus. The MakerSpace contains a 3D printer, common hand and power tools, sensors, motors, and programmable microcontrollers (Arduino and VEX kits); monitors will support students as they work in the MakerSpace, including leading safety tutorials and cleaning and maintaining equipment. Pay is $12.00 per hour.

  • Chester or Midlothian Campus (one position on each campus)

    These positions are only open to work-study students. The successful candidates will perform office support tasks, such as filing, making copies, bulk scanning, data entry, shredding, running errands, and assisting with any related office duties as assigned. Required skills are typing and data entry. Strong communications skills and being detail-oriented are required.

    Must be available during the day, with some evening availability (after 5 p.m.). Positions are available at the Chester and Midlothian campuses. Contact the Mathematics, Science, Health, and Human Services Division office at mshhs@brightpoint.edu for inquiries and interest.

    Responsibilities: Work at the suite reception desk.

    Required Skills: Be friendly, professional, and able to provide assistance to the employees in the office suite and visitors.

    Pay Rate: $12 per hour

    Special Notes: Work Mondays and Wednesdays for the Spring 2024 semester during regular business hours. Preferably 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. but hours can be flexible.

  • The Division of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences is seeking a Photographer/Videographer for help with portfolio/portrait photography, event photography, as well as video projects. Get work experience doing what you love to do that fits around your class schedule. It is preferred for the candidate to have taken Studio Lighting I or Digital Photography I or similar class. Familiarity with video/film workflows, equipment and software is also very helpful. Training will be provided as necessary. Friday availability required. Some schedule flexibility with at least one evening of availability is helpful as projects may occasionally take place at night. This position may assist with additional Visual Arts duties as needed.

    Pay is $12 per hour. Please prepare a portfolio of four to eight images that showcase your photographer’s eye of objects and people, or a video not more than three minutes. Contact Ian Glass at iglass@brightpoint.edu if interested.
