CHESTER and MIDLOTHIAN, Va. – Each year, the Brightpoint Community College Foundation awards more than $250,000 in scholarships that support students as they strive to achieve their educational goals. The Foundation’s scholarship program offers need-based and achievement-based scholarships; scholarships that support specific majors; and scholarships for those who live in certain cities or counties within the college’s service region.

The Foundation is now accepting applications for its 2024-2025 academic year scholarships. Those interested in applying must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Be a current or prospective student planning to attend Brightpoint during the upcoming 2024-25 academic year. Current high school students planning to start at Brightpoint after graduation are encouraged to apply.
  • Earn a 2.5 minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA).
  • Enroll in a certificate and/or degree program at Brightpoint by the first day of the fall semester.

Additional information about the scholarship program, including a link to the application, may be found at www.brightpoint.edu/scholarships. Completed scholarship applications must be submitted by no later than April 15, 2024.

Anyone with questions about the scholarship program or the application process may contact Scholarship & Program Administrator Eddie Webster at wwebster@brightpoint.edu or 804-594-1477.

The Brightpoint Community College Foundation secures resources that provide scholarships for students; fund academic programs, student support services, capital projects, and renovations to modernize classrooms and labs; and stimulate innovation within the college faculty and staff. This work ensures the college continues its pledge of providing academic excellence to students while expanding the services it offers to meet the community’s workforce requirements. Since most of the college’s graduates live and work in the area, gifts to the Foundation are an investment in both students and the community.

Brightpoint Community College, one of the largest institutions in the Virginia Community College System, envisions a success story for every student. Brightpoint offers students a high-quality, high-value education, with more than 80 majors that provide pathways to careers in in-demand fields; transfer opportunities to four-year colleges and universities; and industry credentials and licensures. The college, with campuses in Chester and Midlothian, online classes, and off-campus classrooms, served more than 11,700 students during the 2022-23 academic year. It also assisted more than 4,000 learners through Community College Workforce Alliance, the shared workforce division of Brightpoint and Reynolds community colleges.
