2024 Juried Student Art Show Winners Announced

CHESTER and MIDLOTHIAN, Va. – Every spring, Brightpoint Community College student artists showcase their talents through the institution’s Juried Student Art Show. This year’s exhibit, on display now through April 29, 2024, in the Art Gallery at Brightpoint, features thought-provoking artwork highlighting a variety of styles and mediums. Earlier this month, Chelsea Lee, assistant professor of art foundations at Virginia Commonwealth University, juried the show, gave an artist talk, and presented awards in a number of categories.

The Gallery at Brightpoint is open to the public. Admission is free. The Gallery is located on Brightpoint’s Midlothian Campus (800 Charter Colony Parkway) in Eliades Hall, room E107. It is open Monday – Friday from 12:00 – 4:00 p.m. and by appointment. Those wishing to schedule an appointment outside regular hours may contact Dr. Paula Winn.

Brightpoint Community College, one of the largest institutions in the Virginia Community College System, envisions a success story for every student. When Dustin Bell was 14, he watched his father, Les, work in a machine shop. Today, the father and son are teaching the trade together at Brightpoint, carrying machining into the next generation. And while the technology has evolved, the need for skilled machinists hasn’t. From the cars we drive and aircraft we fly to medical devices and everyday items, machining is behind more of our world than most of us realize.
