Connect with a Supportive Community
As a first-generation, international student, Aneeza appreciated the opportunities for connection available at Brightpoint. It’s one reason why she enrolled.
“I wanted to continue my educational journey while also learning about and becoming part of this culture and community,” Aneeza said.
With challenging courses ahead of her, strong academic support from the Brightpoint community would become integral to Aneeza’s success.
“The professors are approachable and genuinely care about students,” Aneeza said. “Smaller classes make it easier to receive one-on-one support. And classmates often collaborate.”
Aneeza aced her course materials—and began tutoring other students in the Academic Resource Center.
“Becoming a tutor in accounting showed how far I had come in my own learning,” Aneeza said. “It’s one of my proudest achievements.”
Aneeza’s college connections also helped her land professional learning experiences. Through networking, she secured two externships and an internship.
“I held an externship with the Accounting Scholars Development Program (ASDP), another with Keiter CPAs, and an internship at a local firm,” Aneeza said. “These experiences gave me hands-on exposure to the accounting field and allowed me to apply what I learned in the classroom to real-world situations.”
I thought Brightpoint would just be a stepping stone, but it became a place where I found community, friends, opportunities, and personal growth.
Learn to Lead
While balancing her academic and professional responsibilities, Aneeza honed her skills as a leader. As president of the Business Club and co-president of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, Aneeza “led meetings, organized events, encouraged participation, and helped students connect to resources and opportunities.”
“I gained real leadership experience by being trusted with responsibility,” Aneeza said.
She built a resume of new skills for her future career as a CPA, and leapt outside of her comfort zone.
“Brightpoint provided opportunities to step up,” Aneeza said. “I’ve grown more confident, independent, and goal-oriented.”
Make An Impact
During her second semester at Brightpoint, Aneeza received the Trailblazer of the Year Award in recognition of her leadership and contributions on campus.
“I wanted to give back to the college,” Aneeza said.
From helping expand the Brightpoint Food Pantries, to supporting blood drives and the Career Services Student Advisory Board, Aneeza has tried to volunteer “as much as possible.” As a Student Ambassador, she also represents Brightpoint at events and provides campus tours to new students.
“No two days are the same, and that’s what makes it exciting,” Aneeza said. “I thought Brightpoint would just be a stepping stone, but it became a place where I found community, friends, opportunities, and personal growth.”
Aneeza plans to transfer to a four-year institution after graduating from Brightpoint in Spring 2026.
