The Federal Work-Study (FWS) program provides part-time employment opportunities to eligible students to help them afford college.

In the FWS program, students whose Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) qualify them for FWS are awarded a specific amount of money which may be earned through part-time employment in FWS approved positions either on or off-campus.

FWS jobs are designed to be flexible around students’ class schedules. If you wish to be considered for the FWS program, you must indicate this preference on your FAFSA and apply directly to FWS program employers.

If you have been awarded Federal Work-Study and are looking for a job, the list of available positions can be found on the Student Jobs and Internships webpage.

If you do not currently have a work study award, contact the Financial Aid Office regarding your eligibility for the work study program.

To apply for a Federal Work-Study job, students must meet basic eligibility criteria as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and complete the following steps:

  1. Review the "list of available FWS positions." Then contact the hiring supervisor for an interview for the position you are interested in.
  2. If offered a position, you will be referred back to the Financial Aid Office to receive the FWS Contract.
  3. Complete and submit the FWS Contract to the Financial Aid Office.
  4. You will be sent the documents to submit to Human Resources (HR) by your supervisor.
  5. Submit completed documents to the HR Work-Study Liaison.
  6. HR will notify your supervisor when you are cleared to begin employment.
