Official Transcripts
You can request an official transcript from Brightpoint in one of two ways – online or in person.
NOTE: At the current time, the Virginia Department of Education will not accept Brightpoint official transcripts mailed by Parchment. If you need a transcript for teacher recertification purposes, please make your request in person.
Online Requests
Online requests for official transcripts are made through our partnership with Parchment.
With an online request, you can select to have your official transcript sent electronically or through the U.S. Postal Service. In-person pick-up is not an option if you request your transcript online.
Fees are as follows:
- $3.15 for each transcript sent electronically
- $5.50 for each transcript sent via the U.S. Postal Service
Overnight service is also available at an additional cost. However, this option may not be available to students enrolled at the college ten or more years ago or for requests received when the college is closed (e.g., weekends, official college breaks, closures due to inclement weather, etc.). See Parchment's website for overnight service details.
Remember, not all institutions accept electronic transcripts. Be sure to check with your institution to ensure acceptance of electronic transcripts.
Parchment should be contacted for questions about registration, the ordering process, canceling a request or user issues with the website. You can also view Frequently Asked Questions about Parchment.
Inquiries concerning a transcript that cannot be released because of a hold should be made to the college office that placed the hold.
In-Person Requests
With an in-person request, you can return to campus to pick up your transcript, or you can have it mailed to you. A photo I.D. must be provided in order to pick up your requested transcript.
While most institutions require an official transcript be sent directly from Brightpoint to the institution, there may be times when a hand-carried official transcript is acceptable.
To request a transcript in person, you can visit the Admissions & Records Office on either the Chester or Midlothian campus. You will need to pay $3.00 for each official transcript that you request, which is payable at the Cashier’s Office.
Students who choose to have their official transcripts given directly to them should understand that many third parties, such as an employer or college/university, may not consider transcripts official if they are issued to a student.
