College and Career Ready Virginia (CCRV)
Dual Enrollment Courses for Free
College and Career Ready Virginia (CCRV) enables all students who qualify for dual enrollment to receive the Uniform Certificate of General Studies (UCGS) or Passport at no cost while they attend high school.
To benefit from the CCRV program, Brightpoint requires dual enrollment students to be pre-qualified and referred for CCRV participation by their high school counselors. Students cannot attempt to enroll in CCRV courses directly through Brightpoint. CCRV participants must also be referred within a specified enrollment period that has been communicated to school partners, or they will not be registered for classes.
How the Program Works
- Each high school follows a designated pathway to meet the requirements of the UCGS or Passport.
- Classes to fulfill the requirements will either be provided by credentialed faculty in a student’s home high school or online by Brightpoint faculty.
- All UCGS courses taught by credentialed faculty at a student’s high school are offered at no cost.
- Not all courses that are eligible for the Passport or UCGS will be available at each high school, but courses outside of the designated pathway may be taken at Brightpoint at a cost, and will count toward completion of the Passport or UCGS.
Start Earning Credits Early
The Passport and UCGS create a strong foundation for your higher education. Credits completed through the Passport or UCGS will transfer and apply towards general education requirements at all four-year public universities and most private four-year colleges in Virginia.
For information related to CCRV, a specific high school’s pathway, or general dual enrollment questions, please start the conversation with a member of the counseling team at your high school.
*Note: College and Career Ready Virginia (CCRV) was established through House Bill 1087 in 2024.
December 5: Change in Operations
Due to the weather, Brightpoint Community College will be operating remotely Friday, December 5. Buildings on campuses will be closed. No classes, services or activities will be held on campus, and the Scholarship Celebration Luncheon scheduled for December 5 has been cancelled.
Students who are scheduled to have on-campus classes on Friday should check Canvas and their student email for updates from their instructors. Students who are scheduled to test on campus in the Testing Center should reschedule their test in Register Blast or contact the Testing Center via email for assistance. Virtual testing appointments will be held as planned.
