New Semester, New Future
From a future shark biologist to a trained doula, we spoke to current students at our August welcome events, and asked them exactly what they’re looking forward to this fall.
Welcoming Trailblazers to Campus
On August 25 and 26, Brightpoint volunteers waited behind welcome tables displaying printed college resources and bags of fresh popcorn, eager to greet students arriving on campus for their first classes of the semester.
After speaking with college experts and grabbing a few flyers, students were invited to a photo-op, where they could have their image taken and share what they were most excited for in the upcoming year.
Here’s what they said:
“I’m excited to…
…make new friends.”
…pass all of my classes and connect with my professors.”
…let out my creativity.”
…study architecture.”
…transfer to GMU.”
…explore new opportunities.”
…start my future.”
And these were just some of their majors:

Bright Days Ahead
As the semester unfolds, we’ll be holding more events to help students learn about the college, connect with each other, and get excited about their futures. Check our calendar for upcoming events, like:
- Three career-field-focused job fairs, taking place September 17, 18, and 23.
- Brightpoint Connect, where students can meet, dance, enjoy refreshments, and learn about the college. Attend in Midlothian or Chester.
- Fall Fest, which will include a candy trail, haunted house, DJ, games, face painting, and refreshments.
And catch our college updates on social media to get event highlights and behind-the-scenes looks, as well as student-focused videos and stories.
